The official currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN), however in most tourist destinations the USD, Canadian Dollars, British Pounds and Euros are widely accepted. The Mexican Peso is a floating currency and the exchange rate may fluctuate according to the daily foreign exchange market, it have been very stable for years, in 2003 the rate of the USD was $11.23 and now in May 2011 it is  $11.65 for $1.00 USD.
